The project consists of the following Work: The Priority Area 1 contract will focus on the construction of the Snye Point Outdoor Events Space, which will serve as a central venue for the upcoming 2023 Arctic Winter Games being hosted in Wood Buffalo. The transformation of this space will create a hub for the broader four-season Waterfront Park with both passive and active recreation opportunities, and provide our community a venue for hosting a multitude of outdoor events and celebrations for generations to come. Additionally, the project will provide a continuous multi-use path with integrated cultural experiences, linking recreational opportunities and nodes.

The broad scope of work will include: 

• Demolitions, removals and salvage 

• Earthworks, site grading and fundamental drainage improvements 

• Permanent surface flood mitigation measures such as berm top-ups    along Clearwater Drive 

• Site servicing; storm(including flood proofing measures for deep utilities and in-field subsurface drainage systems), water, sanitary, electrical (including lighting) and communications 

• Concrete works including pathways and walkways, plazas, slabs, decorative concrete, concrete walls and benches 

• Road and asphalt works including multi-use trails and pathways, road realignments and parking lot relocations and upgrades 

• General landscaping including fine grading, topsoil, sodding, seeding, planting, irrigation systems

• Site furniture and placemaking features including benches, bike racks, trash receptacles, tables, a new playground area, sand pit, shade structures, etc. 

• Possible public art installation, wayfinding and discovery signs and markers
